How does the Workplace Equality Index work?
We assess your organisation's achievements and progress on LGBT equality.
Our experts in LGBTQ+ inclusion have created a sophisticated scoring system in which they give feedback to you and your company, enabling you to understand what's going well and where you need to focus your efforts.
After you have completed your submission, which involves surveys from people within your organisation, you will be awarded a gold, silver or bronze award - you may be eligible to become one of the top 100 workplaces!
If you're already one of our Diversity Champions, you will receive a more in-depth feedback form with your application.
The Index provides us with confidence that our approach is delivering success for our staff and communities.

Entering the Index is a fantastic way to show your commitment to LGBTQ+ equality. It demonstrates that making your workplace, services and products LGBTQ+ inclusive is a priority.
We celebrate Stonewall's Top 100 Employers from the highest-scoring Workplace Equality Index submissions. If you achieve a Top 100 spot, you can use the Top 100 Employers logo to promote your achievement.
- Understand your employees' experiences

Understanding the lived experiences of your employees is crucial to inclusion; your employees may be experiencing homophobia, biphobia or transphobia in the workplace without you knowing.
The Index will give you insight into staff experiences through an anonymous survey. All you need to do is promote the survey to your employees and leave the rest to us.
Diversity Champions will receive a survey summary showing employee opinions, attitudes and experiences. You’ll also be able to compare your organisation’s data to sector and regional averages.

One feature of the Diversity Champions programme is feedback on your Index submission. Once we've reviewed your work, we'll give you in-depth written and verbal feedback. We'll also provide you with best practice examples and ways we can support you further.
